Frank Martin and Tarik Zaina Both Weigh In at 139.5 Pounds Ahead of San Antonio Showdown
Frank “The Ghost” Martin and Tarik “El Camello” Zaina officially make weight for Saturday’s 10-round super lightweight showdown on the Navarrete-Foster undercard.
SAN ANTONIO, TX — Frank “The Ghost” Martin and Tarik “El Camello” Zaina have officially made weight for their highly anticipated 10-round super lightweight contest scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Martin tipped the scales at 139.5 pounds, with Zaina matching his opponent at exactly 139.5 pounds during Friday’s official weigh-in.
Both fighters successfully cleared the 140-pound division limit, setting the stage for an intriguing showdown on the Emanuel Navarrete versus O’Shaquie Foster championship undercard, streaming live on DAZN.
A New Chapter for The Ghost
Martin enters Saturday’s contest looking to establish momentum in the super lightweight division as he continues a new chapter of his professional career with Top Rank.
Following his high-profile defeat to Gervonta “Tank” Davis in 2024, Martin returned to action with a stoppage victory over former world champion Rances Barthelemy before fighting Nahir Albright to a draw.
Now competing at 140 pounds, Martin has the opportunity to demonstrate that the speed, technical ability and ring intelligence that made him a prominent lightweight contender can translate into success in a new weight class.
Tarik Zaina Has Other Plans
Standing across from Martin is Tarik Zaina, who has made it clear that he has no intention of being a stepping stone in Martin’s return to championship contention.
In an exclusive interview with UND1SPTD, Zaina revealed that he personally requested the matchup after learning Martin had signed with Top Rank.
“I absolutely feel like everyone, including the janitor, is looking past me.”
With both men arriving at identical weights, the physical preparation is complete. Zaina now has the opportunity to challenge expectations, while Martin will look to remind the boxing world why his name remains relevant among the division’s contenders.
The Stage Is Set
Saturday’s card will be headlined by Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster, who also successfully made weight for their unified WBO, IBF and WBC super featherweight championship clash.
Navarrete weighed 130 pounds, while Foster came in at 129.8 pounds for their scheduled 12-round main event.
For Martin and Zaina, all that remains is to settle the questions inside the ring.
